Born on November 01, 1945 at Karnataka, Mr. E.
Janardhana received his Post Graduate degree in Aeronautics from the Indian
Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1970. He joined Vikram Sarabhai Space
Center at Thiruvanthapuram in 1970 as an aerodynamics engineer to work in SLV-3
Project.
Mr. janardhana has worked on systems definition and configuration design for
Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV. He was, in particular, responsible for
the design and development of new systems like the multi port secondary
injection thrust vector control for solid propellant stage, engine gimbal
control for liquid propellant stage and flex nozzle control for the solid
propellant upper stages. He took over as Deputy Project Director of
Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle, GSLV, in 1991, responsible for the
vehicle and mission design.
Later, he was the Group Director of Launch Vehicle Design with overall
responsibility for vehicle configuration, mission design and evaluation. He
also led the team responsible for advanced studies on advanced space
transportation systems that resulted in the evolution of GSLV-MK III. Mr.
Janardhna, is at present the Deputy Director, Launch Vehicle Design Group and
is working on reusable launch vehicle.
Mr. E Janardhana is presented as ASI Award for the year 2000 in recognition of
his significant contribution to Rocket and related Technologies.
